Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal data LetzPet collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it — in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Luxembourg data protection law.
1. Who We Are
LetzPet S.à r.l. ("LetzPet", "we", "us") operates the platform at letzpet.lu. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this platform. Our registered office is in Luxembourg City, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. You can contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@letzpet.lu.
2. Data We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including: name and email address at registration; profile information such as profile photo, bio, and languages spoken (for Sitters); payment details processed securely by our payment provider; booking details including dates, services, and pet information; and messages exchanged between Owners and Sitters on our platform. We also collect data automatically, including IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and interaction events.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data under the following legal bases under GDPR: Contract performance — to facilitate bookings between Owners and Sitters; Legitimate interests — to improve our platform, prevent fraud, and ensure platform safety; Legal obligation — to comply with Luxembourg and EU law including tax and AML requirements; Consent — for marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to: create and manage your account; facilitate bookings and process payments; verify Sitter identity and credentials; send booking confirmations, reminders, and support messages; improve platform features and safety; comply with legal and regulatory requirements; and send marketing communications (only with your explicit consent).
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only where necessary: with the other party in a booking (e.g., Sitters receive Owner contact details needed to complete a service); with our payment processor (Stripe) to handle transactions securely; with identity verification providers for Sitter onboarding; with cloud infrastructure providers under appropriate data processing agreements; and with authorities where required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide our services. Booking records are retained for 7 years for accounting and tax purposes as required by Luxembourg law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
As a data subject in the EU/EEA you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion ("right to be forgotten") subject to legal obligations; restrict or object to processing; data portability; withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with the Luxembourg Data Protection Authority (Commission nationale pour la protection des données — CNPD) at cnpd.public.lu.
8. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the platform (session management, authentication). We use analytics cookies only with your consent to understand how the platform is used. You can manage cookie preferences through our cookie banner or your browser settings. Declining non-essential cookies will not affect your ability to use the platform.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage of sensitive data, access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; please report any suspected security issues to security@letzpet.lu.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by a prominent notice on the platform. The date of the latest revision is shown at the top of this page.
Exercise Your Rights
To submit a data access, correction, deletion, or portability request, please contact us at privacy@letzpet.lu. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR.
